Tuesday May 12

#GivingTuesdayNow starts on May 5 and will kick off a month of activity celebrating giving, generosity and helping each other out. “Giving” can mean donating, volunteering, thanking or another act of generosity.

As part of the campaign, podcasters can give their fellow creators what they want more than anything else - new listeners.

Early on Tuesday May 12, we want podcasters to release a short, special episode recommending a podcast or three to their subscribers.

You can also spread your recommendations via social media using hashtag #givingtuesdaypodcasts.

Podcasters and passionate podcast listeners can recommend any podcast they like – as long as it’s not their own. (We’re being generous, remember?) It’s that simple.

Any podcaster or podcast lover anywhere can join in – though this is a Giving Tuesday Australia initiative, we’re happy to go global.

Make sure to mention that you’re doing this as part of #GivingTuesdayNow and direct people to the Giving Tuesday website in their country for more ways to help their community and causes. (We're being generous remember?)

London Calling

Giving Tuesday Podcast's official UK Partner Podcast Radio will be playing some of the special episodes on its digital radio station across London and beyond. How cool is that? (So keep your ep them short and sweet - five minutes or fewer.)

Your Giving Tuesday Podcast episode will be listened to by a lot of newcomers so you might also want to introduce yourself. Eg:

Hi this is Rebecca host of The Investor's Guide to Retiring Rich. Usually I talk about stocks and shares but today as part of Giving Tuesday Podcasts I'm going to offer some far more valuable advice - what podcasts you should be listening to....

How to explain Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday aims to promote giving and generosity. The movement is huge in the US (where it was born) and is growing annually across the world. During the popup #GivingTuesdayNow campaign, Australia is focussed on supporting community groups devastated by COVID-19 and has set up a website allowing people to support hundreds of charities and groups in different ways.

  • Explain that you are supporting #GivingTuesdayPodcasts and encourage others to do likewise.

  • Encourage people to visit the Giving Tuesday website in their country for more ways to help.

  • Make your recommendations diverse to support independent, niche and obscure productions. (Joe and Marc are doing just fine.)

  • Be sure to explain to include the handles of the podcasts you recommend on your social posts and throw in #givingtuesdaypodcasts. That’ll help us promote your recommendations even further.

  • We’d love to see lots of Facebook and Instagram action too.

Podcasters or media with queries can contact GivingTuesday Australia publicist Brett de Hoedt on 0414 713 802.
